Baltimore Ravens Defensive Back Bennie Thompson Announces Retirement

Former NFL Player Ends Career After Eight Seasons

Thompson played eight seasons in the NFL, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Baltimore Ravens in 2000.

Baltimore Ravens defensive back Bennie Thompson has announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons in the league.

Thompson, 30, was a key member of the Ravens' Super Bowl-winning team in 2000. He started 114 games in his career and recorded 450 tackles, 33 interceptions, and 12 forced fumbles.

"I've been blessed to play this game for eight seasons," Thompson said in a statement. "I've had the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the world and have learned from some of the best coaches in the game."

Thompson was drafted by the Ravens in the second round of the 1999 NFL draft. He quickly became a starter and was a key member of the Ravens' defense for eight seasons.

Thompson's retirement is a significant loss for the Ravens. He was a key member of their defense and was a leader in the locker room.
