Manuel Margot: A Rising Star in the MLB

Early Life and Career

Manuel Margot was born on September 27, 1994, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.

He began playing baseball at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, signing with the San Diego Padres as an international free agent in 2011.

Margot made his professional debut in 2013 and spent several seasons in the Padres' minor league system before making his MLB debut in 2016.

Breakout Season with the Rays

In 2018, Margot was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, where he had his breakout season.

He played in 158 games that year, batting .276 with 13 home runs and 52 RBIs, while also leading the American League in outfield assists with 17.

Margot's impressive performance earned him a spot on the AL All-Star team and helped the Rays win the AL East division title.

Continued Success in San Diego

Margot was traded back to the Padres in 2020 and has continued to be a valuable asset to the team.

In 2022, he batted .282 with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs, helping the Padres reach the NL Wild Card Game.

Cleveland Guardians

On August 2, 2023, Margot was traded to the Cleveland Guardians for a package of prospects.
