Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury Status Before 2024 NBA Playoffs

Bucks Star Suffers Calf Injury, Avoids Serious Damage

By Alberto De Roa, March 23, 2022

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been diagnosed with a left calf injury, according to the team. The two-time MVP left Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat in the third quarter after he appeared to aggravate the injury while driving to the basket.

An MRI on Wednesday confirmed the calf strain, but the Bucks have since ruled out any serious damage. Antetokounmpo is expected to miss some time, but the team is hopeful he will be back before the playoffs begin in mid-April.

This is the second time Antetokounmpo has missed time this season due to a calf injury. He sat out three games in November with a right calf strain. The Bucks have a 5-3 record in games without Antetokounmpo this season, but they will need him back soon if they want to be a contender in the playoffs.

The Bucks are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 41-26 record. They have a four-game lead over the fourth-place Philadelphia 76ers.
