Everything You Need To Know About The 2021 F1 Sprint Format Including How It Works Formula 1 Formula 1 Racing Formula

The new Formula 1 Sprint Race Format is being tested at three Grand Prix weekends in 2021 and it involves having a shorter race on the schedule. It's designed to provide an exciting event that lasts around 25-30 minutes with 17 laps, similar to how a sprint race is usually conducted in other sporting events. The main differences are that the field of competitors will be less than the full Grand Prix, and there may also be fewer pit stops due to using the hardest compound tire set available for the weekend.

The Qatar Grand Prix happens this weekend at the Losail Circuit, with the race scheduled for Sunday evening at 6pm. In addition, F1 has turned its sprint race into an independent event, where sprint qualifying will determine the starting grid and then the sprint race follows next. There are plans to have six of these events in 2023, starting this weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix at Silverstone. F1 Sprint is back, but it's different from before because instead of running over a lengthy distance like the traditional grand prix races, they'll be held over just 17 laps and last roughly 25 to 30 minutes.
